Title
[D8235M], Letter from William Symes Andrews to Thomas Alva Edison, June 5th, 1882
Editor's Notes
"We have had considerable trouble with the insulation of the 250 Light armatures due in large measure if not entirely, to the acid which the men say they are obliged to use to make the hard solder flow when connecting up wires to commutator. I do not think that a 110 Volt Dynamo, run for light should ever develop sufficient heat to melt ordinary good soft solder, and by connecting with this, we could avoid the acid altogether and use rosin or parafin for a flux." Also thinks that this would lower armature resistance by giving better electrical connection.
