- [written from NYC]. Saw photo of your electric motor for railways in Drexel Morgan & Co office. Please advise me what traction such a motor could provide on 4% incline narrow gauge line, and its purchase and operating costs. TAE marg: "Electric motor cannot be applied to a steam railroad unless certian alterations are made into the track. If you wish to look into the matter I shall be glad to arrange for you to visit Menlo Park where I have an experimental road of 1 1/2 miles long in operation."
