Title
[D8252D], Letter from Josiah Custer Reiff to Thomas Alva Edison, March 22nd, 1882
Editor's Notes
"Your account with the Western Union Tel Co dated Mch 22/77 expires today by limitation. On account of the utter bad faither of that Co with me in connection with this matter, I have been grievously injured & practically ruined." You have also failed to realize direct benefit on account of same bad faith. You recall that at the time Orton promised to submit to arbitration the WU/American Automatic Co quadruplex controversy; this was supposed to be put in separate contract with me and signed concurrently but was never done. Since you're now free of WU contract, you are perfectly free to assist me in enforcing full justice from WU. Recently corresponded with Green about the $50 weekly I was to be paid under this contract (TAE getting $100 weekly); owed $13,000. PLEASE! don't sign any final receipt on account of this contract.
