- Doesn't like Fleming's design; he should use lignum vitae. Sends b/p's of commutator; "6 months use at central station in New York have failed to develop any electrical defect. There is one mechanical defect which should be changed." Gives sketch of it. "No trouble is experienced with the Porter coupling at Central Sta.. .. To let them alone as much as possible we find to be good policy."
