- I[Hard to read] New dynamos: in ordinary Z machines, get 60 ft/lbs per sq in of cutting surface. Looks like he doesn't dare to try more without using blower. Did I understand right from your letter to EHJ about output of H mach? Discusses one of his new machines (120 lights). "I must have your opinion on the value of Hopkinsons's improvements. He is continually at Bailey about them." Bailey writes from London about Hop's K machine that gives 600 lights. "Pray the alterations of the length of magnet is not patentable and H cannot claim anything on it & therefore it is useless to make a contract for a thing that is given to all." I'm making K with slightly larger armature to get 400 amps. Lamps received; "magnificent." Got your bill for arc light; is it Moses's arc light? He was supposed to send for free.
