- [enclosure to D8338E; COPY] Report on Holborn equipment. Commutator of #3 has been cut down each time it's been rebuilt, and the bars are now too thin to go on much longer; want TAE's advice on reconstructing the commutator. Have had much difficulty with commutator; mica burns through, maybe due to oil? Maybe insulation under the bars and at collar should be thicker, maybe paraffined wood? ENclose drawing---get TAE's advice. Have ordered new commutator for #3, with some modification. Want TAE's approval to substitute A&S engines for Porter on #2 and #3. A&S engine working very well at Waterloo Station. How prevent "constant trouble with the coupling" that plagues Porter engines. Need at least an A&S for the new dynamo. Can't couple the Porters as in NY because they're in different rooms, also the dynamos aren't sister machiens.
