- Editor's Notes
- Copy of letter to Johnson from Spiers & Pond (signed F[elix] Spiers, director] In regard to the Criterion Theatre [London], We beg to signify our acceptance of your estimate for lighting the above Theatre as communicated to us in your letter of 29th Jjune [not found] and your letter and enclosure of 7th July [not found].##There are two points however to be mentiond, viz: ## 1 Mr Johnson assured us that the workings of the Machinery should be _noiseless_, and we attach the greatest importance to the accomplishment of this condition. As a comparison he said we should have less noise than the Houses of Parliament [House of Commons] Installation. ## 2. The added words "delay in transmission" I the estimate we understand to mean _delay on the voyage_ not delay in the shipment from any cause.
