- Editor's Notes
- Marked "Personal." Arrived in Renovo last night, with Clarke, "who is a very agreeable travelling companion." Clarke is going to Baltimore. Optimistic about prospects in Renovo, although it's isolated by mountains. "I almost dreat to commence work: the picturesqueness of the surroundings has flooded my soul with poetry." Maxim lights are already in the P& E RR shops here. "An electric system is wanted here & the people will subscribe; but they are all poor & can't subscribe a very large amount."
