- [wire from NY to Hix in Louisville] "Endeavour to prevent arc lights of any kind being used [-------] it will spoil the effect which will be beautiful. Arc lighing there is too much like a Bowery showentirely in bad taste. Maxim Co run their lamp up above candlepower to mislead the public & then every morning before opening changed the blackened lamps. We run our lamps at the candlepower we guarantee purchasers."
