Title
[D8366C], Telegram from Thomas Alva Edison to William Preston Hix, June 26th, 1883
Editor's Notes
[wire from NY to Hix in Louisville] "Endeavour to prevent arc lights of any kind being used [-------] it will spoil the effect which will be beautiful. Arc lighing there is too much like a Bowery showentirely in bad taste. Maxim Co run their lamp up above candlepower to mislead the public & then every morning before opening changed the blackened lamps. We run our lamps at the candlepower we guarantee purchasers."
