Title

[D8374ZAS], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Edward Hibberd Johnson, December 21st, 1883

Editor's Notes

Referiing to attached cablegram ( nothing attached) do you know anything about it or who Dartoque is? We do not understand it here further than that the Gernerale Telephone company of Paris appear to want some carbons for telephones, and do not know how to order them. You will notice that the literal translation of the message is "bottle of coal" Could not this word "bottles " have been mutilated and originally been "buttons" and the the trasnlation would be "carbon buttons" Marginala: i"Mr. Tate supplied these and in has shipped them B&CoK"
