Title
[D8416AOP], Letter from Samuel Insull to Edison Electric Illuminating Co (Shamokin), Thomas C Detwiler, February 18th, 1884
Editor's Notes
Regarding reported "extraordinary lamp breakage" at Shamokin, have asked Chief Electrical Engineer to report on this. Confident that the fault is purely local and can be easily fixed. "I may mention that in our central station in New York where of course matters are u nder the immediate control of Mr Edison, the average life of lamps for the last year has exceeded 600 hours, and we feel confident that this average will be far exceeded during next year, as the lamps we are now making are far superior to any that have ever been turned out by the lamp factory."
