Having made a contract with the EELCo giving me control of all isolated work in Chile, & all Central Station work outside of Santiago and Valparaiso, you are hereby appointed my agent for that territory. I greatly desire that the Santiago station should be kept in operation if possible without prejudice to any interests involved .. Do your best to secure such a result … give aid as may be necessary to Messrs. Ed. Kendall & Co .. toward the organization of a new company to control either Santiago alone or all of Chile.
