Title
[D8503ZAV], Letter from Abraham P Schenck to John Canfield Tomlinson, June 9th, 1885
Editor's Notes
[Letterhead of Abm. P. Schenck, Counsellor at Law.] Took action in Supreme Court to bring the orders of Judge Scudder (see D8503ZAN1) concerning the examination of TAE on supplemental proceedings and contempt proceedings before that court for review. Thinks the court will hold the proceedings "good for purposes of the appointment of a Receiver under the statute, but bad for all purposes of punishment for contempt." If court holds order and proceedings good for appointment of a Receiver, the plaintiffs will likely try to get the money paid in under the first sale{?}, "and this of course we must fight." In the meantime, requests a check for $100 from TAE to cover bills for printing, court fees, personal appearances, and disbursements.
