[Letterhead of The Rapid Service Store Railway Co.]. Apologizing that one of the circulars of the Rapid Service Store Railway Co mentions association between McCarty and TAE; "I was not aware that it was done until the proof of the circular was shown me, and to please the men who are associated with me I consented to have it go in." Also acknowledging that owe TAE about $100.00. Hoping TAE will receive a certificate of stock of "our company" for 25 shares in payment. "I have $3000.00 due me on January 1st, 1886, out of which I could pay you but would prefer to have you take this stock." Feels it is likely that the stock will be at par within a year, so it would be a good deal for TAE, but will pay him the cash on Jan. 1 with interest if TAE would prefer.
