- Editor's Notes
- [Letterhead of The Piqua Edison Electric Illuminating Co.] Received your letter of Jan. 17. Would have responded earlier but I expected to meet Mr. Stuart of the Ohio Installation Co. in Cincinnati this week. Failing to do so, I beg to say that on Sept{?} 2, 1884, this Co. entered into a contract with the Ohio Installation Co. by which the latter assumed and agreed to pay all liabilities of the Piqua Edison Illuminating Co., including your claims. The Installation Co. had previously taken charge{?} of all bills to determine our liabilities and reported to us your claim as being $1,115.83, which we settled with them, thinking this was all and we were not apprised differently until we received your statement and letter dated Dec. 9, 1884. I expect to see Mr. Stuart early next week and get his explanation. This company is "certainly in no shape financially to pay, nor can we understand how such erroneous bill should be charged up to us when many [----] charged them on part of the plant and [---] to be furnished by the Construction Co."
