- [Letterhead of Markle Bros. & Co., Successors to Banking House of Pardee and Markle] In reply to your letter, our committee syas that they find the boiler entirely inadequate for the work. Enclosed find statement of bills already expended to perfect your incomplete work. We also propose to put a dome{?} on the boiler, in the hopes of obviating the [-------]. We do not expect that adding the dome{?} will make the boiler equal to the work required of it, but are trying to save the engine. We will wait 5 days for you to say whether you will have boiler capacity enough for the engine, otherwise we will continue to add any improvements we think will help us and deduct the cost of them from your balance.
