- Complains abou the way Hanton treats Hughes and feels that Benton is trying to "freeze" Hughes out. Believes this is an effort by Benton to gain control of the whole territory. Wants to know if there is any way that he can "checkmate the young man." Also tells him not to be discouraged by the lack of orders, he states that business is slow for everyone right now. Ends the later by stating that he and Sims suggest a meeting in Albany, if Hughes desires to. Suggests possible times for the meetings.
