Title

[D8547A], Letter from American Telephone Co Ltd, George A Mason to Samuel Insull, January 2nd, 1885

Editor's Notes

Writes on behalf of C.L.W. Fitzgerald to ask for Edison's proxies on Gower-Bell; will Insull lay the matter before TAE and get a yes or no answer and wire it; motive is the same as in the "Oriental" case; company is not profitable; if the parties who have taken over Consolidated and Oriental could gain control of Gower-Bell, they could invest fresh capital, open more exchanges, and give the shares value; Consolidated now holds a large number of Gower-Bell shares, hence Fitzgerald's interest; will write to TAE in a few days re: the South American concessions "of which he spoke."
