Title
[D8602I], Letter from Drexel Harjes & Co to Edison Electric Light Co of Europe Ltd, Thomas Alva Edison, April 7th, 1886
Editor's Notes
We enclose a copy of a letter to us of Companie Continentale of April 1, on the strength of which we cabled you April 1 through Drexel Morgan thus: "Inform TAE Paris Cos say important they should have an answer by cable with as little delay as possible [concerning] Italian patents referred to in our letter of 8 March." You replied: "European Co. instructed; Lucchini assist Raimondo--it will pay government fees." We duly notifed the Co. here. ##We would mention for your guidance that, requested by the Co. Continentale, and in order to avoid further delay, we have guaranteed payment of the expenses re the extension of the Italian patents in question, not to exceed $1000, which sum is of course nominal, as we placed the figure at that simply with a view to limiting the amount of our guarantee.
