Buttre, with picture] In 1880, you kindly allowed me the use of the steel plate portrait of yourself for the serial publication "The American Portrait Gallery," a work containing about 200 portraits on steel with biographic sketches. Have you the steel plate, and would you furnish it to me for use in a revised and enlarged edition of the work that is now in hand? [Added below signature:] I enclose the portrait and sketch as published at first. The sketch might be condensed and added to, bringing it down to date.
