Title
[D8629D], Memorandum, Thomas Alva Edison, 1886
Editor's Notes
Memorandum handwritten by TAE. Appears to be an organizational plan for company [perhaps Machine Works?]--possible candidate for selection. At top, lists Kruesi as Superintendent, Insull as Secretary and Treasurer, and Batchelor as Vice President and General Manager. Insull to reside at Schenectady. Ditto Kruesi. Batchelor to go up occasionally for experiments and examination of accounts and see that things are running satisfactorily. Foreman, McDougal[?] Mock and Kruesi's Tube man. [Memo then discusses more specifically what each person is to do.] ##Second page labeled "Mfg Dept" and does not appear directly related to first page. Insull listed as manager. Then lists Machine Works, Kruesi Manager; Bergmann, Insull (temporarily); Lamp Co., Upton. Lists changes in organizational structure, as well as names of managers, etc., for various departments. Mentions Chinnock as manager of what is now United Manufacturing Co.; Field as Chief Constructor for Isolated and cash stations; Henderson as Constructor for Large Central. For Engineering and Construction Dept., Marks is Chief, Vail Assistant. Then discusses plans for business, location of offices, and need for TAE approval on central station specifications. Mentions Hix and Biggs. "Andrews to be taken in place of Jenks bounced."
