Title
[D8704ABH], Letter from Agassiz Assn, Harlan Hoge Ballard to Thomas Alva Edison, July 17th, 1887
Editor's Notes
[Letterhead: 60 South St., Pittsfield, Mass.] Would you write an article on the efficacy of lightning rods for the Agassiz Assn. magazine--The Swiss Cross; Assn. has 10,000 members; many people still fear electrical storms, which suggests they don't believe lightning rods work; if they don't work, the people who believe in them are uselessly expending money; since we're not a wealthy magazine, can't pay much; suggested article title "Do Lightning-Rods Protect Us?"; enclose newspaper clipping about people afraid of lightning. [Marg. "Sir Wm Snow Harris who 1st introduced L Rods--British Navy [illegible].
