- Samuel Insull writes to John F. Randolph: "I have given to the Edison lamp Co. a note for $3,000., dated the 31st. December, and drawn at six months. I have made it payable at the Germania Bank. The Lamp Co. will hand a check for this to Mr. Edison direct. This is to repay him the $3,000. which he gave me to meet a note some weeks ago. You will probably receive instructions from Mr. Langton as to paying off his men. Enclosed please find check for $400., payable to you or John J. Langton in order to cover the charges for this purpose."
