- Title
- [D8719AAZ], Letter from Samuel Insull to Alfred Ord Tate, July 22nd, 1887
- Editor's Notes
- "I beg to acknoledge receipt of your favor of the 20th inst. enclosing a communication in reference to anti-friction system of driving dynamos. ## I simply write this letter so as to give myself an opportunity of suggesting that you should not try to copy Mr. Edison's signature in any respect; a great number of people have tried this before you. It may be very pretty, but it also looks ridiculous." Marginalia: there are four versions of TAE's signature written on the bottom half of the page. They are in Tate's handwriting. These signatures are referred to in D8719ABB.
