Editor's Notes
"Yours of 8/29 to hand -- ## I dont know what you allude to as sarcasm or why you should ever look for some hidden meaning in any of my letters where mine is ever just -- ## I have tried to help you get it properly fixed up all I could -- ## I wrote you as soon as I heard of Roosevelts death to let me know who was his Eir (?) & to see if his stock could be [---]? You never replied to it & I know nothing of his will to-day -- ## I asked you to get E to delay till I could buy out Hibberd & you forwarded my letter to E without any request for E to comply with it & you finaly tell me you are having a lawyer prepare paper to wind up the Co & will call a meeting in week or ten days to consumate it -- I write & offer you my proxy & tell you I don’t know to do it that way but am willing you shall try it. [--] you get o[--] [-]f humor. [-]o this ja[--]s?" Marginalia by Edward Hibberd Johnson: "My Dr E Send author back to me"
