Title

[D8751AAH], Letter from John Benjamin Verity to Edward Hibberd Johnson, November 29th, 1887

Editor's Notes

"I have just been writing to Mr Edison asking him to let me have the first of his Phonographs that come to England. You know I have a wonderfully neat installation at Weybridge. Upton was very much taken up with it, and I should connect the Phonograph, up to a small motor (?) in my organ room, & should get nearly all the scientific world down to look at it. It not only would be a very good thing for me, but I should be able to pile the new Edison lamp into them heavily. This lamp, I intend to push as much as I can, and try and knock the Swan lamp out. ## Since Upton left, I have been making great strides with my Company, interesting men of high financial standing, & I have been very successful in this, so that although the matter may be delayed longer than I originally thought for, when it does come out, it will be a very strong Corporation indeed. ## Please do not forget about the Phonograph, as I am very desirous of having one, as soon as they are ready. ## Give my very kindest regards to Mrs Johnson and all you family, more particularly, the future President"
