Editor's Notes
[Letterhead: Shafting Department of The Edison Machine Works] "I enclose you herewith letter from Manning, Maxwell & Moore from whom I bought the engine for Mr. Edison's laboratory. A short time ago, Mr. Gilliland sent me a blue print, showing in which direction the engine was to run. You will notice by the enclosed letter from C.H. Brown & Co. that they are desirous of making a change as shown by enclosed tracing. Can this be done? Advise me at once, and oblige. [CB Marginalia: "OK, we will alter it"]
