Title

[D8802AAW], Letter from Bergmann & Co, Philip Henry Klein, Jr. to Alfred Ord Tate, May 24th, 1888

Editor's Notes

"We return you herewith bill of May 23 for labor and material in connection with the experiments conducted during March, 1889, as follows: ### Pressure indicator experiments, $604.25 ### Volt Meter $15.29 ### Total $619.55 ### You have made a mistake in sending us this bill, which should have been sent to the Edison Lamp Co. We beg to refer you to your letter of Feb. 13, to which you state as follows: 'I will credit your advances to an account which I will calll 'Bergmann & Co. Laboratory Experiments: against which will be put the cost of experiments conducted in the interest of your concern; and would say, that in as much as the Lamp Co. manufacture the pressure indicators and volt meters, this bill under the above statement, does not belong to us." We remain, Yours very truly, Bergmann + Co. [Marginalia: "Say to B + Co that I was getting this indicator up not for the Lamp factory but for Bergmann. Its perfection itself + costs 1/2 what the Howell does + standardize itself depending on [unclear]. However we will turn it over to the Lamp Co. E"] [Marginalia: "Tate-Let me see your letter" E]
