- "Commander C.F. Goodrich of the US Torpedo Station at Newport, R.I. has asked them or four gentlemen prominent in this way to address the officers of the torpedo school on various subjects. Your [unclear] is to say a word on [unclear]. He wants to leave the implicit authority on incandescent lamps and of course he rote you. Despairing of that, he wants some recognized authority and thinks of Howell [?]. Someone suggested Davis. I recommendded, Howell or who else?
