- Editor's Notes
- "Your favor of the 11th inst in re Mr. C.J. Hubbell, at hand. I wish to state that the only reason Mr. Hubbell was unable to effect a satisfactory arrangement with me was owing to the fact that he calculated to organize a company in the interest of the Hursargh system and could not accept any position here unless I was willing to offer extravagant inducements. This matter was considered over a month ago and since the Hursagh system has been killed in the City Department, I had a talk with the gentleman and stated to him that within a day or two I would be able to make a place for him. It seems strange that you should be put in possession of information that is in direct opposition to the facts in the case. ### It was my intention to allot him New York City, for the reason that I believe our interests are very much neglected in that territory. ### I will drop a line to Mr. Hubbell and give the opportunity for which he asks." Yours very truly, C.E. Chinnock
