Title
[D8805AEM], Letter from Edison United Manufacturing Co, Charles Edward Chinnock to Thomas Alva Edison, July 14th, 1888
Editor's Notes
"Your favor of the 11th inst in re Mr. C.J. Hubbell, at hand. I wish to state that the only reason Mr. Hubbell was unable to effect a satisfactory arrangement with me was owing to the fact that he calculated to organize a company in the interest of the Hursargh system and could not accept any position here unless I was willing to offer extravagant inducements. This matter was considered over a month ago and since the Hursagh system has been killed in the City Department, I had a talk with the gentleman and stated to him that within a day or two I would be able to make a place for him. It seems strange that you should be put in possession of information that is in direct opposition to the facts in the case. ### It was my intention to allot him New York City, for the reason that I believe our interests are very much neglected in that territory. ### I will drop a line to Mr. Hubbell and give the opportunity for which he asks." Yours very truly, C.E. Chinnock
