- "In reference to your letter of the 26 inst., I beg to say that Iridium wire cannot be made, as iridium is a brittle metal." A platinum wire is made, however, with 20% iridium, which is stroner than pure platinum. TAE goes into more detail about the platinum-iridium wire.
