Title
[D8818ACQ], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Francis Robbins Upton, February 2nd, 1888
Editor's Notes
Mr. Edison has read you r letter of the 1st inst., in reference to naming machines by their watt capacity. He has also noted your recorded belief that the business has reached a stage when frankness in stating electrical and engineering facts should be, as far as possible, the general policy of the Edison concerns.##This opens up a very wide field of discussion, in view of the competition which the Edison Company has to face and a great deal may be said on both sides. Mr. Edison considers that Mr. Chinnock in connection with some other of the Edison people who come in contact with your rivals and who have to deal with the public should be in a better position to discuss this question with you than he (Mr. Edison) is.
