- Title
- [D8818ASP], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Jesse H Lippincott, September 3rd, 1888
- Editor's Notes
- I received your letter 1st, asking for an extension of time in the payment due of $115,000, on account of the sale of the capital stock of the Edison Phonograph Company. As the transaction between you and me involves a large amount of money and the interests of others, I consider it my duty to be fully informed as to the present status of affairs before granting you the extension of time you requested. Gilliland mentioned he was making an arrangement with you regarding his agency contract with the Edison Phonograph Co., but I have not been officially informed about the nature of this arrangement, nor has Gilliland made application to the Edison Phonograph Co for permission to transfer his agency rights to you. Inform me of the exact nature of the arrangements between Gilliland and you, which will assist my judgment in deciding upon the request embodied in your letter under reply.
