"I received your letter with the samples of cans, as this ship was leaving the harbor of "Para, so I had no chance to answer from there--and am writing this to post at Barbados. ### The samples you sent are the best I have seen and I would like to know at what price and how soon you could deliver one thousand pieces, say in lengths of eight joints. (whis would make each piece about nine feet long) to Singlehurst Brecklehurst & Co. at Para. The large cans you sent is I think thick enough for my purposes-but in case of my [unclear], it must be long enough between joints for [unclear] to cut in [unclear] such lengths. The cut to be made at least one half inch inside the joint at both ends. My experience have been that you have to cut it about [unclear--edge of page torn/folded--leave for editors]"
