Title
[D8828AAM], Letter from Frank McGowan to Alfred Ord Tate, February 21st, 1888
Editor's Notes
"Should anyone call on Mr. E. by the name of Ludwig, a Swede, or should you received any letter from here signed "Cervini or Samper" referring to big bamboo, don't pay any attention to it. This fellow Cervini is a wily Italian to whom I had a letter of introduction but he thinking that Mr. E. could be used as a tool determined to write or send a representative (men living in N.Y. + by name Ludwig) + hence I approve you of the fact. Of course, they don't know what is wanted + the whole thing is a put up job to try + get a contract out of Mr. E. ### This Cervini is a veritable scoundrel but I cannot afford to damage my trip by tackling him + then perhaps get into prison. Will tell you about it when I get back. ### I am off in a day or two + hope to give a good account next time I write." Mac "Ludwig Sunstormis the full name, I think."
