Title
[D8828ABN1], Letter from R S Bunting to Thomas Alva Edison, May 10th, 1888
Editor's Notes
"The enclosed newspaper slip was sent to me by my brother Gen'l F. B. Bunting who is now living in Santa Cruz Cal. He wished me to send you the enclosed piece of vegetable fibre which he thinks would answer for Electric light purposes better than the bamboo. I do not know the name of the fibre or where it comes from, but it was either Mexico or South or Central America, he has been in all those countries. Will you please test it if you think it will answer and let me know the result. And much oblige" Yours truly, R.S. Bunting [Marginalia: "Thank him and say the fibre is not dense enough but for toughness it takes the cake. E"] [newsclipping attached]
