- "In further reference to your letter 31st. Inst., to which was attached a copy of specification of Letters patent #365,978 dated July 5th, 1887 and which you desire to have assigned to the Edison Electric Light Co., I find upon consulting Mr. Edison's contract with your company, that his agreement covering the assignments of patents on Electric lighting expired on the twelfth day of January 1886. The application for Letters Patent #365, 978 was filed November 29th 1886, some ten months after the agreement above refered to had ceased to exist. I return herewith your copy of letters patent above mentioned." Yours truly, A.O. Tate
