[D8842AAT], Letter from William Joseph Hammer to Thomas Alva Edison, 1888
Editor's Notes
New name mentions: NJ Safety Co, and Buckeye Co. I have been to Providence and find A & Sims will loan you an engine personally for the Edison Dept Paris Expo but only on condition that they are put to no expense for attendant or in handling after it leaves the factory. I tried to make better terms but Armington would not agree. I will explain when I see you meantime I shall call on the Straight-Line Engine Co and the NJ Safety and Buckeye Cos and see if I can do better. I think the engine builders should shoulder all expense as they will get a gold medal, &c and if A&S are not willing to do this I am sure there are others who are. I will be up here in the morning. I have appointments with the Paris Expo Com this PM.
