Editor's Notes
"The patent office wants more duplicate statements as to date of conception of subject matter of the Dickerson interference: I send copy of the statementfiled, except that there is a blank for you to fill in the mouth of conception as nearly as you can do so. ### Please fill in this blank and let me have it by return mail if possible." Yours truly, Lemuel W. Serrell [Marginalia: "Since writing the above I have received a letter from Mr. G.M. Phelps, Jr. in which he says he has hunted up your sketches from which the models were made as I asked him to do. That the models were delivered before May 19, 1877 in cases 138 + 160 and in 139 before May 21 77. That your sketch in this particular case 140 is dated by you April 30 1877. This is the earliest written date that I know of." L.W.S.
