- Title
- [D8846ACR1], Letter from Dyer and Seely to George Edward Gouraud, December 13th, 1888
- Editor's Notes
- "Dictated" In reply to Gouraud's of 17 November re: Austrian patents filed from Case 88: "an Austrian patent on which the fees have been paid for only one year is consideed as a one year patent, and the United States patent granted afterward is limited by it to one year." Legal precedents are ambiguous but until clarified "we cannot advise Mr. Edison to permit any Austrian patents to be taken in advance of the corresponding United States patents, unless the fees for fifteen years are paid." Think best you don't apply in Austria until U.S. patents issued. Don't understand your request for powers of attorney re: Case 88. Please send us full information ASAP on the dates, numbers, & terms of patents you've obtained in different countries.
