- Editor's Notes
- "On reading the inclosed slip cut from the NY Times of this date I was reminded that I had in my possession one of the [unclear] used in the exhibition of a Phonograph of your invention, at Nice in 1848 where I was passing the winter. It may have considerable interest to you particuarly if the words and singing given to it, can be reproduced, and I can send it to you in the hope that such may be the case, and will be very pleased to know the result of your endeavors to make the thing speak for itself." Very truly yours, John L Ludlum [Marginalia: "Ans 11/4/88"]
