- "The National Academy meets in New Haven on the 13th of November. It has occurred to me that it ight be a good thing to have one of your phonographs shown to the members, especially as the tone you exhibited to some of them at your laboratory a year ago was one of the earlier forms and has been so greatly improved since. I have written to Pres. Marsh to know if he is going to give the Academy an evening reception. If so it would please him greatly to have the phonograph to exhibit; especially if Mrs. Edison and yourself would be present at the reception. ### Would you be good enough to ask Mr. Tate to send me a check for $120 for those two spectroscopes?"
