Title
[D8848AEZ], Letter from Eugene Howard Lewis to Alfred Ord Tate, November 30th, 1888
Editor's Notes
"I have your favor of the 18th inst. enclosing copies of correspondence between yourself and Mr. Frank W. Moore. ### In fixing the date of the "apple tree" interview, be kind enough to remember this fact: Edison states that when the "apple tree" interview took place, Tomlinson stated that the principal party to the negotiation was Theodore N. Veil. Mr. Edison has also said to me that he learned from Gilliland, that at the time of this interview under the "apple tree", Tomlinson did not know who the real parties were that were bidding for the Phonograph. Now, we have positive proof that Mr. Tomlinson knew on the 1st. day of June that Lippincott was the party. It would seem from this fact, that the "apple tree" interview must have taken place earlier than the dates mentioned in your letter and before the 1st. day of June. Please call Mr. Edison's attention to this, and write me what reply he makes." Yours truly, Eugene H. Lewis
