"I write to ask if your new Phonographs are ready for use and if you could send me one per return mail. ### I am particularly anxious to give one as a surprise to my husband, Mr. Joseph W. Swan (whose name I am sure is familiar to you.) ### He is going to have a gathering of his scientific friends here the end of this month, and it would be delightful to have one of your new Phonographs to show them among other new and interesting things. ### I should very much like you and Mr. Swan to meet and hope you will visit us when you come to England."
