- "Thank you for your reply to my letter I was very sorry not to have one of your phonographs in time for Mr. Larius Scientific gathering, + I write to say that I hope I may have the pleasure of receiving one before October as I should like to give Mr. Larius one for a birthday present. If one of the phonographs sent with the instrument even a message from you to my husban, I am sure it would give him great pleasure to hear your voice. ### By this mail I am sending you a portrait of Mr. Swan taken by a photo-engraving process which is worked by one of our [unclear]. ### We should like to know when we may have the pleasure of seeing you + Mrs. Edison here, + with our congratulations on the birth of your little daughter, believe me."
