- Editor's Notes
- [in French with following translation]: I am very much honored that you have been so good as to keep a pleasant memory of the joke I had in the FIGARO concerning ou of the 26th August last. As for myself, that evening I went to bed proud, saying to myself, I have been able to make Edison laugh. I slept a somewhat electric sleep, charmed with having beguiled a few minutes' time of him when the Universe acclaims. To-day you ask a portrait of your servant, and my dear sir, here it is. With the most sincere wishes that Heaven may accord you a long life for the glory and profit of humanity. Accept Dear Mr. Edison and Master the sentiment of profound respect and thanks of your (Signed) Coquelin Cadet, Societaire de la Comedie Francaise
