- Title
- [D8907ABD], Letter from Practical Publishing Co, Robert Grimshaw to Thomas Alva Edison, April 27th, 1889
- Editor's Notes
- Referring to our former request, that you kindly furnish us, for our forthcoming work, "Thoughts for Young Men," some suggestions which would be useful to young men about starting in business, and to the community at large, we would say that we fear we did not state with sufficient detial what we would like to have you do. We had not intention of making serious inroads upon your time, but thought that in from 200 to 500 words, or the compass of an ordinary letter, you could make some suggestions which would be helpful.##We have been honored by contributions from Mr. Charles Press, of the Standard Oil. Co., Mr. G. W. doane of J. A. Fay & Co., Cincinnati, Mr. J. J. Little, of the immense printing house bearing his name, Mr. Jeb. H. Jackson, of Jackson & Sharpe, car builders, wilminton, Del., Hon. Abram S. Hewitt, ex-Mayor of New York, and other prominent laymen; besides the Roman Catholic Cardinal Bishop of Baltimore, the Protestant Episcopal Bishops of Delaware and of Western New York, and many others; and we hope that we may add to what they have said some good common sense remarks from you.##Hoping to have the pleasure of hearing from you at an early day.
