- Permit me to bring myself to your attention as a member of the National Academy of Sciences, who met you on its occasion of the first bringing of the telephone before that [----] in the Smithsonian Institution.##May I trouble you to kindly inform me whether or not the enclosure paragraph, now going the route of the press, is true so far as you are concerned? # Enclosure para: Two of the most remarkable scientistific men of the century, TAE, the well-known electrician of Menlo Park, and William Crookes, the great London chemist and discoverer of radiant matter, are Theosophists. TAE is a member of the Aryan Theosophical Society of the city, and Professor Crookes is vice-president of the London Theosophical Lodge. [New name mention: William Crookes]
