- Editor's Notes
- You will receive official invitation to attend the 121st annual dinner of the Chamber of Commerce on the 19th Nov next. Our guests will be Sec'y Blaine the Chief justice of the Supreme Court. The Atty Genl of the US W. [-----] The Gov of NY and others. The object of this is to say that I know your objection to dinner speech-making and I promise you as the Standing Officer of the banquet that you shall not be called upon to talk to us. This dinner, you are perhaps aware, is probably the most conspicuous affair of the kind that we have in this city -- I wish to express my personal strong desire that you will kindly accept our invitation.
