- "I am informed by my cousin, Harry F. Miller, who is in the employ of Mr. Edison, that there is an opening at the laboratory for a bright young man and I herewith respectfully make application for the position. ### Have had three years experience as shipping and receiving clerk with the Maryland Steamboat Co. In this city, and three years more experience in the different branches of business, and think I can satisfy you in any position you may have vacant. Age nineteen(19) years, not afraid of work, and can send you best of recommendation if desired. ### An early answer will greatly oblige."
